Voice In Training: Pop/Rock

Your voice. Your sound. Your rules.

This 6-week course is designed for singers who are ready to take their pop/rock singing to the next level and discover what makes their voice uniquely theirs. Whether you're a singer/songwriter, performing in a band, or a musical theater performer looking to expand into contemporary styles, this class is for you!

Pop/rock is a massive world—spanning pop, rock, R&B, soul, country, jazz, folk, and beyond. Each genre comes with its own distinct sounds, stylistic choices, and vocal vocabulary, and mastering those details takes more than just singing the right notes. It takes exploration, experimentation, and intention.

During our weekly sessions, you will:

  • Build foundational vocal skills that help you sing with more freedom, strength, & confidence

  • Discover and develop your own signature sound within the genre of your choice

  • Learn the vocabulary, techniques, and stylistic tools that define contemporary vocal styles

  • Get hands-on with microphone technique, sound mixing, and vocal effects

  • Walk away with cuts of two new songs in the genres of your choice

This class is about getting to the heart of who you are as an artist and learning how your individual voice can live authentically within contemporary music. We’ll study the artists and traditions that came before us, but this isn’t about copying someone else’s sound.

It’s about finding YOUR sound—and learning how to own it.
